Native for Apple Silicon

Your Mac is full.
Now you know why.

Storage Map turns your disk into a clear, live map — with the macOS details other analyzers miss and the safety a cleanup tool needs.

Explore, understand, reclaim

Every gigabyte,
in its place.

See the largest areas first, switch between allocated and apparent size, then move through the map at your own pace.

Designed for the job

Fast is useful.
Correct is essential.

01

The truth about disk space

Allocated size is the default, so sparse files, hardlinks, and macOS volume layout do not distort the result.

02

A map you can explore

Move from a system-wide treemap into folders and files without losing context or waiting for a second interface.

03

Quiet until you need it

The menu bar watches capacity, remembers 90 days, and schedules full scans around power and thermal conditions.

04

Cleanup with guardrails

Use Finder, Trash, or typed-confirmation deletion. Protected roots and changed file identities stay locked.

Private by architecture

Your files are none of our business.

The scanner runs entirely on your Mac. Storage Map has no account, analytics SDK, ad identifier, or server to receive your paths. Full scan trees disappear from memory when the analyzer closes.

  • Local historyCompact hourly capacity samples stay in Application Support.
  • Visible exclusionsSkipped cloud and custom paths never vanish silently.
  • Honest freshnessChanged results are marked stale until the next scan.

One scanner, two interfaces

At home in
the terminal, too.

The standalone CLI shares the same Rust engine and macOS correctness rules with the app. Use the TUI, print a top list, or exclude cloud roots explicitly.

The useful details

Before you ask.

Why does Storage Map need Full Disk Access?

macOS protects app data, Mail, Messages, and other locations. Full Disk Access lets a system-wide scan include those areas. Capacity monitoring and partial scans work without it.

Does sudo solve permissions for the CLI?

No. TCC permissions belong to the terminal application that launches the CLI; sudo does not bypass them.

Why are cloud folders excluded by default?

Provider-managed folders can block while macOS downloads metadata or content. Each detected provider is visible and can be included when you want it.

Is the CLI included in the Mac App Store app?

No. App Store apps must be self-contained and cannot install a binary into /usr/local/bin. Choose the equally priced Direct Edition when you want the CLI.

Why do both editions cost the same?

You are choosing a distribution method, not a quality tier. The App Store Edition favors Store installation and updates; the Direct Edition includes the CLI and uses our signed Installer Image.
